Claudine Bouchard, a seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience in the energy sector, was recognized for her exceptional contributions to the Canadian hydropower industry and the advancement of women in the renewable energy sector. In October 2021, she received the prestigious Woman of WaterPower Award from Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and WaterPower Canada (WPC).
Bouchard's journey at Hydro-Québec has been distinguished by her commitment to excellence and her ability to lead with compassion. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Infrastructure Officer, she oversees the development of an increasingly intelligent and interactive energy system that adapts to customers' needs while enhancing the grid's resilience against severe weather events.
Her multifaceted role also encompasses the presidency and chief executive officer of Société d’énergie de la Baie James. In this capacity, Bouchard manages Hydro-Québec's extensive infrastructure, including generating stations, transmission and distribution lines, and various other assets, with an estimated replacement cost of $350 billion. Moreover, she directs a capital program that will increase significantly in the coming years and oversees refurbishment and expansion projects.
Bouchard's leadership extends beyond her professional responsibilities. She serves on the board of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec, chairs its human resources committee, and actively participates in various organizations promoting sustainability, diversity, and social welfare.
