WiRE South Africa Namibian Women in Green Energy Event
Last week, Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and Women In Green Hydrogen partnered to host not one, but two events, targeted specifically to those #Namibian #women who are currently in the #greenenergy space and those who aspire to enter this exciting industry.
ποΈ Visualise Your Green Future Workshop:
A jam-packed full-day #workshop looking at the what, why & howβs of #GreenHydrogen. The workshop started off with a presentation by Detlof von Oertzen on what role GH2 plays in the global move towards #decarbonisation to curb the devastating effects of #climatechange. This was followed by my presentation which looked at the role Namibia will play in this global drive and what Namibiaβs GH2 agenda is.
The presentations were followed by group work, where participants were split into groups according to their industries - ranging from academia and green energy to financial - and were asked to #visualise how GH2 will impact their industry and what is needed for GH2 to thrive in their industries. We had super insightful discussions, with a particular focus being placed on the need for #regulation, innovative financial solutions, #standardization and questions regarding how to ensure that this nascent industry doesnβt fall victim to the big C word - corruption.
The day ended off with Sabrina Heer providing #businesscoaching to the ladies, highlighting the steps towards visualizing oneβs role in this green space but also implementing this vision by breaking through oneβs own boundaries.
3β¦2β¦1β¦ Switch! Speed networking π―
In the evening, Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) hosted its first #speednetworking event, which - much like speed dating - gave about 30 women in #renewableenergy the chance to network with each other at lightning β‘οΈ speed over a glass (or two) of bubblyπ₯ If you only have 3 minutes to connect, each word matters!
A huge thank you to all the ladies who joined - this was the inaugural speed networking event, and the next instalments promise to be bigger and better ππ»
Another massive thank you to ENS for the sponsorship of this really fun event!
The amount of gratitude I have and inspiration which I gathered during the course of the Visualisation Workshop and the Speed Networking cannot be put into words π Suffice it to say, if the fellow ladies I met are a representation of the experts and industry players in #Namibia - with similar passion, dedication and innovative thinking - I believe Namibia will be able to come to the table and become the #greenenergy hub we aspire it to be πͺπ»
For the ladies in my network and those that responded to my crowdsourcing post a few weeks ago: This was only the first of many similar initiatives which Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) has plannedβ¦ Thank you all for reaching out and I will be reaching out early in the new year with further details ππ»π€©
