Coastal and Marine Areas Development Initiative (CMADI)
The Coastal and Marine Areas Development Initiative (CMADI) is dedicated to improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria's Niger Delta. CMADI's flagship Mangrove Park offers eco- and leisure tourism, education, and research opportunities. Visitors can explore a mini zoo, royal museum, hall of fame, phytomedicinal garden, and a 301m mangrove trail. The park also houses a center for business and entrepreneurial development and the newly approved Institute of Mangrove Ecology and Environmental Technology, Ijala. Beyond the park, CMADI provides Biosand and ceramic clay water filters to households and implements biodigester projects that convert organic waste into energy. Working with partners, CMADI conducts health, education, and environment projects in coastal communities. Their entrepreneurial development unit provides training and mentorship, while their consultancy services focus on WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Conservation/Biodiversity, and Techno-Entrepreneurship.
