Dr. Suzan Shahin has a Ph.D. in Food and Agriculture (2018), and a Master Degree in Environmental Sciences (2009), both obtained from the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). Currently, Dr. Shahin is an Assistant Professor in the College of Arts and Science @ Umm Al Quwain University (UAQU). She is an active researcher in multi-disciplines, including natural resources, water management, food security, aromatic medicinal plants, and sustainability.
She has several cited publications in national/international conference proceedings, and cited publications in prestigious journals, with high impact factor in her field. Dr. Shahin is known for her initiatives related to natural conservations and natural-based solutions to cope with climate change implications.
Dr. Shahin led several academic administrative positions; including head of research and development (R&D), and head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center @ UAQU and worked in several governmental and Non-governmental authorities in the industry. Nationally, Dr. Shahin is an active member in the research clusters of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment – Abu Dhabi; Internationally, Dr. Shahin is an active member in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The contributions of Dr. Shahin had been acknowledged by winning several national and international awards. She is a passionate educator, who supervised winner group of students. As well as, an active social media influencer, spreading academic and environmental awareness to the university students’ and the public.
