SENIOR RESOURCE ANALYST - SOLAR

PURPOSE
A critical member of the Business Development team, the Resource Analyst assesses the wind and solar energy generation potential of greenfield and acquisition projects, helping to drive the growth of Liberty’s North American renewable energy generation fleet.
The Resource Analyst will add value by bringing their experience and technical skills to bear on new projects, they will: perform detailed assessments of the generating potential and probabilities associated with individual opportunities; work with the team to identify and evaluate areas in which to pursue new developments; and further the technical development of later stage projects.
Working within an entrepreneurial team, the Resource Analyst will look to drive down project LCOE and strive for continual improvement, developing new methodologies to increase the efficiency of the resource assessment process and improving our approach to identifying new project opportunities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform long term resource and energy assessments
Be the technical resource assessment expert working as part of a team to conducting due diligence activities on potential greenfield projects and acquisitions of pre-construction and operating renewable assets
Design and optimize solar models site layouts and equipment selection to drive down the LCOE and optimize project economics
Conduct statistical uncertainty analysis (P50, P90 estimates)
Support late stage project development activities by designing site measurement campaigns, finalizing layout arrangements, supporting permitting activities and working with independent engineers
Contribute knowledge of technical fundamentals and their impact on project economics to help team identify regions and sites for pursuing new project opportunities
Use experience and the ability to analyze large data sets to help develop software tools that increase the efficiency and automation of our site analysis processes
Maintain up to date knowledge of solar technologies and associated technical and market trends
Interact with vendors, independent engineers, customers and other stakeholders
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in engineering or related technical discipline
Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in the renewable energy industry
Experience with resource modelling software (WindPro/PV Module, MatLab, PVsyst, Homer, PV Case)
BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
Experience with mapping software (ArcGIS) an asset
Experience with programming (PVLib-Python) an asset
Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Ability to prioritize conflicting deliverables
