Somto is an inclusion advocate and an avid volunteer. As a first-generation immigrant, she knows first-hand the power of bringing people together, and the importance of giving back to the community. Somto is the Calgary Regional Lead for the non-profit BrainSTEM Alliance. Through her work at the non-profit BrainSTEM, she has designed and delivered over 40 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) workshops for hundreds of participants across Canada. She is also the co-chair for the Calgary chapter of Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), where she speaks at and coordinates events in furthering the advancement of the role and recognition of women working in the energy sector.
