The 2026 Equality in Energy Transitions Initiative Awards will be presented later this year at the 17th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM17) in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This year’s awards program continues to grow in global reach, with nominations arriving from across industry, academia, advocacy, government, and research communities worldwide. The exceptional caliber of nominees reflects the increasing recognition of women’s leadership and organizational commitment to equality across the energy transition.

The ceremony will take place alongside ministerial dialogues, high‑level panels, and international collaboration sessions at CEM17, providing a dynamic backdrop for celebrating excellence in clean‑energy leadership. The program will feature keynote remarks and a moderated discussion on equality in energy transitions, just transitions, and the future of inclusive energy systems. During the ceremony, Joanna Osawe, President & CEO of Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), will present the awards, recognizing the 2026 recipients of the Woman of Distinction Award, Emerging Leader Award, and Organizational Leadership Award. Winners will be announced in October 2026, with acceptance remarks delivered either in person or virtually, depending on participant availability.

This year’s adjudication team is composed of experts from WiRE, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), and the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) who will conduct a comprehensive blind evaluation process to ensure fairness, impartiality, and transparency. Their collective expertise spans renewable energy deployment, policy development, just transitions, technological innovation, and community‑centered energy systems.
