The opportunity to honor and celebrate the exceptional women shaping Canada's waterpower sector is here! Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and Waterpower Canada are thrilled to announce the opening of nominations for the prestigious 2025 Woman of Waterpower Award.
This esteemed award recognizes the remarkable achievements and contributions of women who are making a significant impact in the Canadian waterpower industry. We are seeking to spotlight those individuals who are not only excelling in their professional roles but are also actively advancing the role of women in the energy sector and improving the quality of life for women across Canada through their involvement in waterpower.
Who Should Be Nominated?
We encourage you to nominate individuals who have demonstrated excellence in areas such as:
Leadership: Driving innovation and positive change within their organizations and the industry.
Policy and Advocacy: Championing policies and initiatives that support women and the advancement of waterpower.
Technical Advancement and R&D: Contributing to cutting-edge research and development in waterpower technologies.
Project Development: Successfully managing and executing significant waterpower projects.
Community Engagement: Engaging with and positively impacting communities through waterpower initiatives.
Promotion/Adoption of Clean Energy Technologies: Advocating for and facilitating the adoption of clean energy solutions.
Volunteer Work: Dedicating time and effort to supporting women and the waterpower sector through volunteer activities.
Being an Exceptional Role Model: Inspiring and mentoring other women in the industry.
Nomination Details:
Who Can Nominate: Nominations can be submitted by individuals, associations, universities, colleges, professional societies, and other organizations (including for-profit and non-profit). Self-nominations are also encouraged. We highly recommend including letters of support with self-nominations.
Eligibility: Nominees must be a woman living in Canada and working in Canada’s waterpower industry. Nominations from organizations or individuals outside of Canada are also accepted. A curriculum vitae (CV) is encouraged but not required.

This award recognizes their exceptional achievements, strong leadership qualities, and unwavering commitment to the industry. The distinguished award ceremony will take place at the 2024 Canadian Waterpower Week national conference and trade show, taking place September 25 to 27 at the The Westin Ottawa, located at 11 Colonel By Drive in Ottawa. Join us as we honor and applaud the remarkable women shaping the Canadian waterpower industry.
