Women in Renewable Energy WiRE is thrilled to once again partner with Natural Resources Canada and the Equality in Energy Transitions initiative, presents the prestigious 2024 Equality in Energy Transitions Awards.  These awards recognize remarkable women and organizations for their outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication in the energy sector, encompassing various fields such as industry, academia, advocacy, NGOs, government, and research. 

The awards are open to individuals and organizations globally, ensuring that exceptional contributions are acknowledged regardless of location. Nominations are accepted from diverse sources, including individuals, associations, universities, industry, and professional societies. A distinguished panel of judges from 

Women in Renewable Energy, Natural Resources Canada, and the Clean Energy Ministerial will meticulously evaluate each nomination using a comprehensive blind evaluation process, ensuring fairness, impartiality, and transparency. The awards celebrate women's achievements and encourage continued progress towards gender equality in the energy sector.


MEET THE 2024 ADJUDICATION TEAM

This distinguished group of professionals, comprising both women and men, represents a diverse array of expertise and experience from across the global energy sector. Their collective knowledge and commitment to advancing equality in energy transitions make them the ideal judges for this prestigious award.

Each member of the adjudication team brings a unique perspective and a wealth of experience in various aspects of the energy industry, including renewable energy, policy development, technological innovation, and sustainability. Their dedication to promoting gender equality and inclusivity within the sector is evident in their professional achievements and ongoing contributions to the field.

As we celebrate the 2024 Equality in Energy Transitions Awards, we are honored to have such an esteemed panel of adjudicators who are not only leaders in their respective fields but also passionate advocates for a more equitable and sustainable energy future. The Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA) and Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) are honored to once again join forces to showcase this coveted award. The purpose of this award is to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women who have demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to driving the advancement of renewable energy in Canada. 

These extraordinary individuals have not only made significant contributions to the field, but they have also served as inspiring role models, paving the way for future generations of women leaders in the renewable energy sector. 

What is the Criteria Apply?

Nominees must stand out as an individual who has advanced the role of women and has contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of women in the renewable energy sector, improved the quality of life for women in Canada directly or indirectly from the renewable energy sector. This may be demonstrated by the nominee through excellence in areas such as: 

Leadership; Policy and advocacy; Technical advancement and R&D; Project development; Community engagement; Promotion / adoption of clean energy technologies; Volunteer work; Being an exceptional role model

Nominations of another individual may be submitted by an:

  • Individual, Association, University or College, Professional Society, or other Organizations (including for and non-profits) 

Self-Nominations may be submitted by an: 

  • Individual 

Additional factors:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian woman in, or directly contributing to, the renewable energy sector

  • Nominations from organizations or individuals outside of Canada are accepted

  • Candidate’s curriculum vitae is not required but is encouraged

The prestigious Woman of Waterpower Award acknowledges and celebrates the remarkable contributions of women within the waterpower sector. This award recognizes their exceptional achievements, strong leadership qualities, and unwavering commitment to the industry. Take this opportunity to nominate an outstanding Canadian woman who embodies these qualities before the deadline of July 31, 2024.

The distinguished award ceremony will take place at the 2024 Canadian Waterpower Week national conference and trade show, taking place September 25 to 27 at the The Westin Ottawa, located at 11 Colonel By Drive in Ottawa. Join us as we honor and applaud the remarkable women shaping the Canadian waterpower industry.

Nominations of another individual may be submitted by an:

  • Individual, Association, University or College, Professional Society, or other Organizations (including for and non-profits) 

Self-Nominations may be submitted by an: 

  • Individual *If you are self nominating we encourage you to submit letters of support as well
