Join us for an enriching and informative event organized by Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) in collaboration with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) at the Darlington Energy Complex (DEC) on November 24, 2023. This event is a fantastic opportunity for students and energy professionals to gain valuable insights into the renewable energy sector.
The day will start with a warm welcome and introductions at 9:00 a.m., followed by an overview presentation on OPG and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) at 9:15 a.m. This presentation will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the role and impact of SMRs in the energy sector.
At 10:00 a.m., attendees will be divided into two groups for an immersive tour experience. Group 1 will embark on the Darlington Refurbishment Mock-up Tour, offering a unique opportunity to see the refurbishment process up close. Simultaneously, Group 2 will take the Darlington Nuclear & New Nuclear Lands Site Bus Tour, providing an exclusive look at the operational areas of the nuclear site.
After a short break at 10:45 a.m., the groups will switch tours at 11:00 a.m., ensuring all attendees experience both unique perspectives.
A lunch and refreshment break is scheduled for 12:15 p.m., during which attendees can optionally participate in the BWRX-300 Virtual Reality Tour. This cutting-edge VR experience offers an immersive insight into advanced reactor technology.
