Josie Erzetic
Josie is the President and CEO at the Electrical Safety Authority, a provincial safety regulator responsible for the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, electrical product safety, Licensed Electrical Contractors and Local Distribution Companies. Prior to this role, Josie was the ESA’s Chief Regulatory Officer and General Counsel with responsibility for the regulations, legal, communications and government relations functions. Josie has spent most of her career in the electricity sector. Before joining ESA, she held various roles at Ontario Power Generation including as Vice President, Corporate Business Development, responsible for development of hydro, thermal, solar and energy storage projects. In particular, she proudly led the development of several renewable generation projects as joint ventures between Ontario Power Generation and First Nations partners. Josie began her career as a lawyer in private practice specializing in energy, environmental and planning law. She received her ICD.D designation in 2016 and was called to the Bar in 1993. Josie has also served on a number of Boards and as an advisor in the electricity sector.

Join us on a Field Trip to Denby Pottery's Solar PV System!
Join WiRE UK and STEM Select on August 12th for a site visit to Ylem Energy's Denby Pottery Village Solar Farm to learn more about solar energy and how it is being used to meet the needs of Denby Pottery Village. The site visit will last between 60-90 minutes and includes a tour of the solar farm and Denby Pottery Village.
For those travelling by public transport, the meeting point is Derby Rail Station at 12:30pm. The proceeds from the £10 registration fee will be used to provide collective transport to and from Derby station to the solar farm. For those travelling by private vehicle, the meeting point is Denby Pottery Village.
WiRE UK will book a venue close to Derby Rail Station for an early lunch (~11:30am) before the site visit. Please indicate in the registration if you would like to join so that we book enough spaces. Kindly note, lunch is not provided and will be at your own expense.
The site visit will happen rain or shine, so prepare accordingly.

Join us for an exciting field trip to South Branch Wind Farm on Global Wind Day near Ottawa, hosted by Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and EDP Renewables.
This is a unique opportunity to explore EDP Renewables’ South Branch Wind Farm project with a guided tour and learn about their innovative work in the renewable energy sector. The site is approximately 70 km south of Ottawa (about a 45-50 min drive) and has been operational for nearly 10 years. South Branch Wind Farm has an installed capacity of 30 megawatts (MW). South Branch's generation is equivalent to the consumption of thousands of Ontario homes. During the tour, you will be able to see the turbines up close and check out some of the other project infrastructure, such as the substation and the operations and maintenance building.
EDP Renewables North America is a leader in the North America renewable energy sector. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) is a division of EDP Renewables. EDP Renewables’ story in the U.S. began in 2007. The focus of this event is to address the practical training and awareness needs, as well as barriers, that have been globally identified for all types of organizations (government, community, business, NGO) in advancing circular economy adoption. About Tanis Ostermann,
Tanis Ostermann is Principal & Founder of CanSustain, a Manitoba firm specializing in environmental and sustainability management issues and solutions. She has worked in the fields of environmental and sustainability management system development and improvement for twenty five years, having led the design, facilitation and development of sustainability focused projects.
Ms. Ostermann has experience in utility, aerospace, clean-tech, water management, academic, airport management, retail, agri-food, telecom and municipal sectors. She has provided advice on the most pressing environmental and sustainability issues in the world today, including climate change, municipal planning, ESG, clean tech advancement, corporate sustainability governance and circular economies.
She is an Environmental Professional, certified through the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board. Ms. Ostermann has a Bachelor of Science in environmental toxicology and a Master of Environment focusing on the use of existing, well-functioning management systems to enhance sustainability performance.
Most recently she has served on the Expert Advisory Committee under the Manitoba Climate and Green Plan; as the Manitoba Representative to the Sustainable Development Advisory Council under the Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada, and on the Canadian Standardization Advisory Committee on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability of Standards Council of Canada.
