Position Summary
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Secretariat Office is recruiting a Clean Energy Intern. Reporting to the Clean Energy Coordinator, the Clean Energy Intern will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support in planning conferences for 62 First Nations around Manitoba in addition to developing engagement materials for in-person and online gatherings. The Intern will be responsible for reviewing, writing, and submitting summary reports on various environmental bills, acts, legislation, policies, and energy plans relevant to Manitoba.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with the planning of First Nations Clean Energy Conferences for 62 First Nations.
• Serve as a liaison between the Clean Energy Coordinator, leadership, and technicians.
• Assist with the development of engagement tools and materials such as surveys, polls, presentations, and infographics.
• Review, summarize, and report on environmental bills, policies, news articles, and energy plans as required.
• Provide a variety of logistical support to the Clean Energy Coordinator.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• An equivalent combination of education and experience within the environmental sector.
• 2+ years’ experience planning in-person and online events or conferences.
• Must be between 18-30 years old.
• Self-motivated, driven, and organized with excellent time management skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences.
• Must have experience arranging travel and accommodations for events and/or conferences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Intermediate experience utilizing Canva, Slido, SurveyMonkey, and Zoom.
• Able to follow directions, office practices, procedures, meet deadlines, and respect confidentiality.
• Ability to work with budgets and assist with financial duties when required.
• Knowledge of First Nations culture, history, Treaty, and inherent rights.
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
• Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable, and Child Abuse Checks.
