Dr. Imen Ben Salem is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences and Sustainability at Zayed University. She holds an MSc in Mechanics and Acoustics from the University of Maine, France, and a PhD in Physics from the University of Rennes, France. Dr. Ben Salem has published over 35 peer-reviewed papers, addressing global challenges such as climate change, renewable energy, and planetary science. Her work includes developing eco-friendly mineralization techniques for carbon capture using biochar and collaborating with UAE University on high-performance, hole transport media-free carbon perovskite solar devices. Dr. Ben Salem has secured over AED 2 million in research funding, supporting projects on COâ‚‚ sequestration, renewable energy, and advanced tools for planetary studies. She has pioneered innovations such as a spectrogoniometer for light scattering measurements and a Mars environmental chamber to simulate extraterrestrial conditions, enabling international collaborations with institutions including MIT, UAE University, Monash University and Fujian Normal University. She serves on the editorial board of Environmental Research Communications, where she has guest-edited special issues on renewable energy applications, contributing to the advancement of interdisciplinary scientific research.
