Sima Nazemi
Vancouver Chapter
Sima Nazemi is an Energy Economist and Renewable Energy Professional passionate about building inclusive and sustainable energy systems. Her work bridges solar power, energy economics, and policy development with a focus on creating meaningful social and environmental impact.
In her hometown, Nazemi began her career at a time when there were fewer than 40 residential solar installations. Through years of teamwork, innovation, and resilience, she helped expand that number to more than 800 residential and commercial clean energy systems. She also assisted in designing community-based solar income programs for low-income families, a major effort that transformed Kerman into a pilot city for renewable development, as recognized by SATBA (Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran). During this journey, she adeptly navigated complex challenges related to international sanctions, ensuring investors and projects remained financially stable and compliant.
After immigrating to Canada, Nazemi continued her sustainability mission by founding Healing Through Sustainability, an initiative that connects environmental education with trauma-informed recovery for women and children. This work reflects her commitment to clean energy, community empowerment, and environmental awareness.
Today, she is eager to bring her technical expertise, policy insight, and community perspective to help advance Canada’s clean energy and sustainability goals.
