Join us for an exciting field trip to South Branch Wind Farm on Global Wind Day near Ottawa, hosted by Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and EDP Renewables.

This is a unique opportunity to explore EDP Renewables’ South Branch Wind Farm project with a guided tour and learn about their innovative work in the renewable energy sector. The site is approximately 70 km south of Ottawa (about a 45-50 min drive) and has been operational for nearly 10 years. South Branch Wind Farm has an installed capacity of 30 megawatts (MW). South Branch's generation is equivalent to the consumption of thousands of Ontario homes. During the tour, you will be able to see the turbines up close and check out some of the other project infrastructure, such as the substation and the operations and maintenance building.

EDP Renewables North America is a leader in the North America renewable energy sector. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) is a division of EDP Renewables. EDP Renewables’ story in the U.S. began in 2007. They have developed more than 8,800 megawatts (MW) and operate more than 8,400 MW of renewable energy projects that generate clean power, enrich rural communities, and accelerate growth toward a sustainable future.

Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) is a rapidly growing organization with over 25 chapters, over 180 events with more than 7,000 attendees, and an online community of 26,000 and counting. WiRE is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community in the clean energy sector. This event is a testament to their commitment and provides a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and fostering connections among women in the renewable energy field.

This event is also a great opportunity for students in the energy sector to network with professionals, gain insights into the renewable energy industry, and explore potential career paths.

🌍 Join the Green Revolution with WiRE and ZooShare! 🌍

Embark on an exhilarating journey at ZooShare, Canada’s pioneer zoo-based biogas plant, and witness the transformation of animal waste into renewable energy. This 45-60 min walking tour, brought to you by ZooShare and Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), offers a unique opportunity to explore how cutting-edge technologies convert waste into valuable resources, providing a glimpse into the future of green energy.

Since its inception in December 2020, ZooShare has been a symbol of sustainable energy, annually recycling 2,000 tonnes of manure from the Toronto Zoo and 15,000 tonnes of local food waste. This process generates enough renewable energy to power over 250 Ontario homes each year!

Situated just across the Toronto Zoo, ZooShare is more than an energy plant; it’s an educational hub. Our mission is to foster the growth of community-owned biogas plants through education and investment. Don’t miss this chance to see how embracing renewable solutions can make a difference! Join us for this exciting adventure!
