Description

The Staff Transmission Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.The Staff Transmission Engineer willpartner with utilities project group to design, plan, and improve the modern electric grid. Project work includes design of overhead high-voltage transmission lines.

  • Providing technical leadership for overhead transmission design teams on projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV.

  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members.

  • Independently executing design work with engineering and industry knowledge.

  • Performing quality reviews.

  • Identifying and communicating changes to project scope to engineering lead and project manager.

  • Providing input and adhering to project schedules.

  • Understanding project budget.

  • Identifying and communicating technical risks associated with projects.

  • Identifying, developing, and communicating processes and tools to increase efficiency across team and department

  • Creating, improving, facilitating, and teaching training courses to the project team and department

  • Other design duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or electrical engineering from an accredited program. Mechanical engineers can also apply with relevant industry experience.

  • Minimum 3 years related transmission line design experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).

  • Engineer-in-training license (EIT).

  • Ability to effectively work with project teams.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Suite, AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and/or PLS-Tower.

  • Consulting or utility experience preferred.
