REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS 

As part of Potentia’s Development & Origination team, the Associate Project Manager, Development  & Origination reports to the Senior Project Manager, Development & Origination, and has no direct  reports. 


ACCOUNTABILITIES AND KEY FUNCTIONS 

The Associate Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers to support the development  of renewable energy generation (wind and solar) and energy storage projects. The Associate  Project Manager will help identify risks and recommend strategic paths forward to ensure projects  are completed on time and within budget. 

Focusing on the Canadian renewable energy market, this position participates in all aspects of  project development including site prospecting, negotiation of commercial agreements, public  consultation, permitting, working with subject matter experts such as environmental and technical  advisors, communication with project partners, and preparation of proposals to source offtake  opportunities (e.g. power purchase agreements). The position will also support due diligence efforts  on acquisition opportunities throughout North America. 


ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting project management activities from project concept to the commencement of  operations – coordinating internal and external functional teams, working proactively to  identify project barriers and risks, and implementing strategies to overcome them, 

  • Assist in identifying prospective sites with suitable resource, transmission capacity and  favourable site characteristics, 

  • Support land acquisition and coordination activities, 

  • Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders, 

  • Supporting local, provincial/state, and federal permitting, 

  • Participate in and initiate interconnection processes, 

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals/bids submitted to potential offtakers, • Liaise with consultants, contractors and third parties, 

  • Support in the development and maintenance of project budgets and schedules, • Draft reports to management, including project status updates, 

  • Communicate information continuously and effectively to internal and external cross functional teams, 

  • Assist in due diligence activities to identify risks and opportunities for potential acquisitions  are understood, 

  • Contribute to best practices and documentation of lessons learned for future projects, • Such other development activities may reasonably be required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES  

  • Good natured, dedicated, team player able to work under pressure when required, • High level of judgment – able to synthesize multiple data points, apply to relevant problems  and take decisive action 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, high attention to details, organizational and multi-tasking skills, • Project management skills 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Self-motivated, curious, agile, professional, and trustworthy 

  • Demonstrated growth and interest in continued professional development, • Passionate about renewable energy, energy storage and the environment,

  • Ability and willingness to travel


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3+ years in renewable energy field, focused on development or development related matters

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an environmental field, engineering, business or related field

  • PMP designation considered an asset
