Application Deadline: March 28, 2023

JUMP TO HOW TO APPLY

RheEnergise Canada Ltd.

Montréal HD-Hydro™ Technology Centre

RheEnergise is a cleantech startup developing low-cost, massively scalable, long-duration energy storage. Utilising a proprietary high-density fluid in a closed loop system, we believe that HD Hydro® will be instrumental in enabling the global energy transition.

There is no time to waste in bringing climatech solutions to market. To support our ambitious development strategy, we are dramatically growing the R&D team at our Montréal technology centre. Join the team that propels the different engineering sub-system development projects and leads the programme of demonstration projects.

About the Role

You will be joining the R&D Engineering team creating the first-ever HD Hydro system, starting with design and sub-systems development in the lab with the end goal of implementing the solutions as part of our various full-scale demonstration projects. Along the way you will be expected to contribute to all stages of the new product design process as well as building out the lab, prototyping facilities, test rigs and company processes. You will be comfortable sourcing components, solutions and services as part of the overall development process. Test and instrumentation, data analysis, problem-solving, iteration, improvement and innovation are your bread and butter. As an R&D engineer working on real hardware, you relish being able to get your hands dirty and work across multiple disciplines, be it in the lab or on-site.

This full-time position is based at RheEnergise’s HD Hydro Technology Centre in Montréal and reports to the CTO. Working is in-office or remote (as circumstances permit) and occasionally on-site when demonstrators or pilot projects are being built.

Your Attributes

  • Imaginative, creative problem-solver with a “get it done” attitude, attention to detail and pride in work

  • You are passionate about climate change and finding solutions to change the world

  • You have experience working in startups and thrive in the chaotic — but creative — environment, valuing the autonomy and accountability that a small business provides

  • Self-motivated, independent when need be, but also with potential to be a team builder as the company grows

  • Experience working in the hydro or renewables industry is an asset

Your Skills

  • You will have an Electrical Engineering degree but comfortable and curious about working across disciplines: fluid mechanics, mechanical systems, process optimization, material handling

  • You have skills in areas such as electrical system design; programming; calculations and modelling; PLCs and industrial controllers; and control systems design, matched with relevant experience building actual hardware

  • Strong background in experimental work and testing. Expertise with Matlab and LabVIEW a plus

  • A knack for systems design with the ability to see both the big picture and the small details

  • Excellent transferable skills make you a versatile early employee

Why work for RheEnergise

  • A startup that pays a great salary (JR R&D Engineering salary range $55-85k). Equity participation via options

  • We’re a European company with civilized vacation policy (starts at 25 days!) and best of class benefits

  • Get in “at the ground floor” and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a cleantech startup with extraordinary growth potential and high profile. You will have the opportunity to learn from amazing teammates and advance rapidly.
