Mahouton Justine Carine Adjassa is a specialist in renewable energy, energy project management, and environmental management. She holds a Baccalaureate in Electrotechnics, a Professional Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy, and a Master’s degree in Development and Environmental Management from Université Senghor in Alexandria, Egypt. 

With hands-on experience in electricity production, system design, installation, and maintenance, she has developed a solid expertise in solar photovoltaic systems and the operation of dams and hydroelectric power plants. Her academic and professional journey has fueled her passion for technical and engineering work, project management, and initiatives aimed at addressing climate change and environmental challenges. 

She is highly motivated to contribute to projects that promote clean energy access, environmental protection, and climate resilience. Through her diverse experiences, she has worked across Africa, Asia, and Europe, collaborating on various renewable energy and sustainability projects in multicultural environments. 

In her research, she designed a prototype of an Archimedean screw turbine for electricity generation from the low-flow Djonou River in Benin. This project was selected by the Sustainable Renewable Energy Systems (SusRES) program in 2022 and published in the Journal of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (JNSPS). In 2025, she was honored to be recognized in the Innovation category of the Energy Heroes Innovator for Africa Award by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). 

She is a former scholar of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Université d’Abomey-Calavi and a Wallonie-Bruxelles scholar at Université Senghor. As the current President of the Women’s Energy Network in Benin (WENiB), she is passionate about empowering women in the energy sector. 

Her expertise spans energy auditing, environmental governance, and environmental economics, and she is committed to improving energy accessibility while promoting environmental sustainability and gender inclusion in Africa and beyond.
