Carmelina is a forward-thinking high school student with a strong passion for electrical engineering and environmental sustainability. She has gained hands-on research experience as a laboratory assistant at York University, where she contributed to projects exploring how satellite technology can be used to strengthen the protection of Canadian forests. In extracurricular pursuits, Carmelina is an accomplished pianist, practices karate, and tutors students in foundational mathematics and literacy. She is deeply committed to science, serving as Vice President of the Tommy Douglas Scholars of Science, and is actively engaged in leadership-focused volunteer work.

Hands-on workshops and experiences with circuits, signal processing, and systems ignited Carmelina’s interest in electrical engineering. Exploring how hardware and software work together to collect and analyze environmental data further strengthened her interest in the field. She hopes to collaborate with others to help create a brighter, more sustainable future for the world.

Carmelina is eager to begin her involvement with the Women in Renewable Energy community. She looks forward to contributing to initiatives that promote the visibility and representation of women in STEM.
