Fauzia Chevonne Okediji has over a decade of experience designing, developing, and implementing multi-million-dollar portfolios of projects, technology systems and business models. She has worked on innovative financing solutions, incentive mechanisms, policy and regulatory frameworks, and other de-risking and data-driven strategies that promote sustainable energy technologies and climate-friendly electrification solutions. For instance, her work has involved pioneering an approach for Utilities (DisCos) to partner with private developers to develop utility/grid-connected/interconnected distributed renewables (DREs) projects across rural and urban settings, which has contributed to energy access and energy transition efforts and been instrumental in unlocking millions of dollars of capital from the private sector, multilateral development banks, and institutions.
Additionally, Fauzia is an avid learner who advocates for knowledge-sharing, cross-learning, and partnership-building to collaboratively develop solutions to problems that are multi-faceted and multi-sectoral such as climate change, energy access, and other developmental issues. She has coordinated several trainings and workshops for industry players, appeared on numerous global panels and speaking engagements organized by international institutions such as the World Bank, European Union, GIZ, USAID, amongst other local and international convenings, exchanging views on climate-mitigation strategies, energy transition, and power sector transformation for African countries.
Furthermore, Fauzia volunteers and participates in activities that promote the participation of women in the energy industry, including providing mentorship and career advice to young women and those seeking to transition to the energy/climate sectors.
Fauzia holds a Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, and Business Management from the University of Leeds, UK, a BEng from Covenant University, Nigeria, and a Public Management - Energy Policy certificate from the University of California - Davis. She is also a certified RE professional, a recipient of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF), an alumna of the African Leadership University's Africa Industrial Internet Programme (AIIP), the Data + Design for Development Program, and a member of the International Leadership Association (ILA).
