Maya is in her final year of completing a Master of Science in the Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University. She previously completed a Bachelor of Engineering at McGill University in the Department of Bioresource Engineering. Under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Jordaan, Maya’s research focuses on cost-effective end-of-life management of wind farms in Canada, with particular emphasis on repowering wind farms in Ontario and managing the decommissioning of wind turbine blades. She is interested in pursuing a career in renewable energy development/investments. She is proud to be working for a lab run by a female professor and recognizes the impact of female leadership. Maya is a passionate advocate for women in STEM. She is also a Champion on the Council on Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership (CWEEL), part of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Canada East.
Her goal as a student ambassador for WiRE is to create a nurturing environment for women interested in renewable energy at McGill and empower the mindset that they can all be the next leaders in the world’s energy transition.
