Meet our speakers:
Laurie Fraser
Laurie is an experienced trainer and facilitator in the Leadership development area. In her role as consultant with the Candu Owners Group (COG), Laurie is responsible for delivering training to CANDU clients including nuclear utilities and vendor suppliers and facilitating Peer Teams established to develop approaches to common problems and issues.
As a self-employed consultant, she offers a variety of workshops and programs to clients in topics including confidence building, personal resiliency, presentation skills etc. Laurie relates to her participants with energy, enthusiasm and positivity.
Her 23 years of experience in the nuclear industry, with Ontario Power Generation has prepared her well. Laurie has had three unique career paths spanning occupational health and safety, human factors engineering design, and leadership training.
Laurie holds a Master’s of Science degree in Environmental Health and a certificate in Adult Training and Development. Laurie has a passion to help others become the best version of themselves. She believes in giving back to the industry and community and has been a proud and active member of Women in Nuclear (WiN). Currently, Laurie serves as a coordinator of WiN’s leadership training initiative and is an active mentor in the mentorship committee.
Amanda Rivers
Amanda Rivers is the Treasurer of Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada. In her role, Amanda provides financial oversight of the operations of WiN Canada and its chapters.
Amanda has over 19 years experience in the nuclear industry at Kinectrics Inc. Her passion for learning and tackling new challenges has driven her to take on various roles throughout the organization starting as a project leader in the Nuclear Engineering Services team, the Service Line Leader and Lead Trainer for Commercial Grade Dedication, Manager of Projects in the Probabilistic Risk Assessment team, a role in the finance department as the Business Analyst for Kinectrics’ International Companies, as well as a role as Director of Business Development, responsible for managing the portfolio for one of Kinectrics’ primary accounts in the nuclear industry. Amanda’s diverse experiences, combined with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from Schulich School of Business, have provided a strong foundation for business development and strategic planning. Amanda is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) which complements her skill set by providing the analytical skills needed to make informed, insightful decisions. Amanda is also a member of the Diversity & Inclusion team within Kinectrics, and recently served on the Finance and Audit committee and as a director on the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) board of directors.
