POSITION SUMMARY

The Structural Engineering Manager is a keystone role focused on all aspects of the product lifecycle for our Fast-Rack solar racking suite of products. With an eye on deadlines and ability to maintain progress on our roadmap for the product suite, this position is ultimately responsible for the team, product, and success of the division. To be effective in their role, the Structural Engineering Manager is a master collaborator. They will zoom out to focus on the needs of customers and ensure our marketing team is able to promote the products effectively, while simultaneously keeping a finger on the pulse of internal operations while working alongside team members to improve processes and ensure they are able to adapt to changes in the market

The Structural Engineering Manager will use their years of Management experience to lead the Racking Engineering team with confidence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead team of internal mechanical engineers

  • Product Development Leadership;

○ Lead the development and all aspects of the product lifecycle for Charge Solar’s Fast-Rack solar racking suite of products

○ Create and maintain roadmap for product suite

○ Continuously improve internal design standards and practices

○ Collaborate with external certification bodies

○ Collaborate with customers to understand market needs or solar racking, including competitive positioning

  • Project Engineering Leadership;

○ Execute on and continuously improve project engineering workflows for site-specific solar racking ballast plans, racking load assessments, building assessments, etc.

○ Review and sign-off for internally generated mounting system designs

○ Building capacity assessments

○ Liaise with external engineering firms when required for site-specific design reviews and/or stamping

○ Coordinate Engineering Management Plan and licensing

  • Training;

○ Provide internal product training (technical and non-technical staff) directly or via engineers on the team

○ Partner with marketing to provide external product training and external thought leadership (e.g. blog articles)

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

● Product development leadership experience

● Professional Engineering designation in at least one province in Canada

● Minimum 10yrs engineering experience

● Minimum 2yrs functional management experience

● Must be self-motivated and exhibit excellent time management

● Must possess an attention to detail and strong organizational skills

● Practice excellent spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills

● Have proven proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint

● Preference given to candidates with solar industry experience

● Experience with CRM software is an asset

● Willing to work in a fast-paced environment

● Able to shift from technical to layman’s terms with ease

● Highly adept people management skills

● Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
