Mission
Due to continuing growth, we have an immediate opening for an intermediate Construction Inspector working in the Northern Ontario Regions, Timmins area. This position will provide the opportunity to join our innovative, supportive, and dynamic dam engineering group. You will be working on a variety of hydropower and dam projects. This is a hybrid role based in the Timmins, ON area and with regular travel to Timmins, ON.
Primary Responsibilities
Engineering site inspection on water retaining structures construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards, engineering design and technical specifications
Document construction site activities by keeping a detailed daily diary, taking photos, performing survey checks, and recording as-built conditions
Identify and monitor deficiencies and provide problem resolution/field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues
Attend and participate in construction progress meetings
Review and comment on construction progress payment certificates, on-site quantities verification, and quotations
Coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites with authority to issue stop work orders ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety
Liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, various utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required
Undertake site inspection duties as required
Assist with preparation of contract documents and specifications
Profile
Licenced Civil or Structural Professional Engineer in good standing with the PEO.
4 years of related experience in civil engineering construction, with direct experience in hydropower and dams construction work is an asset
Positive attitude with superior interpersonal skills
Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, in matters arising from construction projects
MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle
Possess working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects
Intermediate to advanced skills with the Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel)
Proficiency in AutoCAD (an asset)
Construction work is estimated to be completed on 2 years (end of 2025) CIMA+ will provide per diem rates to cover travel and accommodations. The working hours is estimated to be 40 hours a week, depending on construction activities extended shifts may occur. The Site Inspector will be compensated on an hourly basis.
