Land Acknowledgment

Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) was founded on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of many Indigenous nations in Tkaronto (Toronto), on the shores of Lake Ontario (Niigaani-gichigami). We acknowledge the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat peoples, whose historical and ongoing stewardship of these lands, waters, and air makes our work possible. This land is subject to Treaty 13 and the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Covenant.

As WiRE grows into a global network advancing sustainable energy solutions, we recognize that our community operates across traditional Indigenous territories worldwide. We hold deep gratitude for Indigenous land defenders and water protectors—past, present, and future—who lead the way in environmental stewardship and climate protection across the globe.
